The concept for “who” is about how our eyes play tricks on us and we might not see the real picture but instead just the small details that from far away look normal.
From far away this piece might look normal and basic portrait collage, but if the audience looks closer to the photo, the more “out of place” the portrait looks. I chose to use the photo as a monochrome tone because If I chose to make it a color portrait the chance of the combination might look out of place. Making it black and white it made prevents the audience from focusing on the color grading or the color composition which will mean they would be able to focus on the details instead which is my main objective for this piece.
The edits are my way of experimenting with the identities of other models. I came up with the idea of how the pandemic for the past 3 years might have made us only recognize people from their eyes as that’s the only thing we see from their faces due to the masks that cover their faces. By doing this I want to explore how I can play around with the idea. So I believe that if I swapped people’s eyes I would be able to create a “brand new” person I got inspired to make it a brush stroke from children's face flip books that I used to own in my childhood.
